First Week at Hogwarts!
What a week it has been! Arriving at Hogwarts; meeting my house mates and our prefect; the start of classes and the first test of the term! Whew!
First off I got all settled in dorm room. The Hufflepuff girls are all lovely and have made me feel very welcome. Several of them are hand-knitters like me. We had a knitting night in the common room and were all very excited to start our Fiber Transfiguration Classes. I also did some decorating to make my journal more Hufflepuff!
Fiber Transfiguration is a smashingly good class! It is so different from muggle-knitting, a totally different type of challenge to it. There were several in the class who have never knit before, so they really struggled at first. Our first assignment was to transfigure fiber to a garter stitch square. It was slow going at first, much like the first time grammie taught me to knit. At our next class, those of us who were able to complete a square were given a choice of a beginner fiber transfiguration project to work on. I went with wrist warmers, as they were a project that I was familiar with knitting by hand. They turned out quite nicely and I've sent them to papa so he keeps his wrists and hands warm when he is on his computer.
I've also met my partner for the Sock Kit Exchange. She is a lovely Ravenclaw girl named Fleur Lovegoods. I've been using my Badger detective skills to learn all I can so I give her the best swap kit! I've already got some great ideas that I think she will like. Still lots to work on though. I do have to stop in the Fiber Shoppe on our Hogsmeade trip; need to find sock yarn, needles and fun giftie items to include. I've an idea in my head for stitch markers, just need to find what I need for them.
But this week was not all fun, games and knitting. We had our first test of the term in Hogwarts History. Fortunately it was all on the Hufflepuff house, so I knew lots of it from dad. I think I did rather well. We've another test coming up as well. So there is more studying to be done. I think I'll be spending some time in the library tomorrow.

Here At Hogwarts
Today is my first day at Hogwarts! I arrived last night and by the time I was settled in and all I was just too exhausted to write anything in my journal. I'm looking forward to meeting the other students who have arrived early as well. Since we have some time before the official start of classes it will give us a chance to get to know each other. Right not I think I'm going to pop in on some of my house-mates and introduce myself.

I'm Off
Well my robes, cauldron, quills, parchment and of course yarn has all been packed. I don't think I've forgotten anything, but mum has promised to send anything I might have by owl. We'll be leaving for the train station shortly, so I'll be arriving at Hogwarts later today. I can't wait to meet all of my house mates!
Oh! And I checked the Daily Prophet, Weekend Edition and saw that Hufflepuff won the first round of house points with 90% participation! Way to go my fellow Badgers! I know we will easily bump that up to 100% participation and win the house cup!
Time for me to be leaving now. I will see everyone later today!

Shopping Today
Mum and I went to Diagon Alley to buy all my school supplies as I will be leaving this weekend for Hogwarts. What was most exciting was going to Olivanders to purchase my very own wand!
I do love it and now I really can't wait to begin classes, learning the proper use and all. I'm also very excited about the Magical Fiber Art courses being offered. From what I've been told it's extremely challenging. My grammie Weasley tells me that many witches (wizards too I would guess) are hard pressed to excel at Magical Fiber Arts. Too often the results are more of a "home-made" look to them, rather than "hand-crafted." While grammie is quite skilled at it herself, she prefers muggle methods for knitting, crochet and needlepoint.
I often go with her to muggle yarn stores and was taught to knit by the ladies at the shop. Grammie and I took our first sock knitting class together, which was loads of fun! In the class we learned to make socks on a long circular needle using a method called "Magic Loop." I picked it up quite quickly and the shop lady who was teaching said I was definitely a natural for Magic Loop. They were all quite confused by the giggled reaction of grammie and I. If they only knew.
Oh! and I almost forgot! I received my owl containing my Swap Kit information. I've been given a very lovely Ravenclaw girl. I've already have an idea for her bag, which I'll be starting soon. I'll be doing some shopping for yarn, needles and stitch markers. It all looks to be great fun! I'm so looking forward to coming to Hogwarts and getting to meet everyone face to face!
Well, lots of packing to be done tomorrow. Then off to the train on Sunday... I really can't wait!

Onward We Go...
Well now, I think I have my basics set up here. I'm linked to HSKS4, even got the logo to work as a clickable link. I've posted my Hufflepuff banner, proud badger that I am. I've even received a couple of welcomes from to dear house mates who I am sure we will get along smashingly once I've arrived at school.
I'm sure you're wondering just who Toni is, so let me tell you. First off you must be thinking... "A Weasley in Hufflepuff? Thought they were all Gryffindors!" Well I'm not exactly one of those Weasleys, though dad tells me that we are distant relatives. Something like our great-great-great grandfathers were cousins.
My dad is a wizard of course, the Weasleys being one of the oldest wizarding families in Europe. There really are just so many of them that I seem to be related to somehow or another. Dad works in Muggle Relations, often working with the different Embassies in the muggle government. Oh and he was in Hufflepuff, so I'm very excited to be sorted into his house!
My mum is a more complicated story. Her parents are originally from Italy, her father being a muggle diplomat and her mum an Italian witch. Papa and nonni came to England when papa began to work at the Italian Embassy in London. Mum was born here in England, but she didn't inherit nonni's magical abilities. She does posses a rare gift in the ability to see magical ability in others.
While she and papa lived in the muggle world, nonni often visited Diagon Alley with my mum. During these visits there were incidents where mum mistook other witches for nonni. It wasn't until she was of school age that her gift was recognized for what it was. From how mum explained it to me is that she sees witches and wizards differently. She can see the magic within them, something very few in the magic community can do. She tells me that she knew I would be a witch from the first time she saw me.
Mum and dad met when she was visiting papa at the embassy. He says it was love at fist sight. Mum thinks she was the first girl who didn't run away from him....LOL! Though the biggest surprise was when mum told him she knew he was a wizard from when she first met him.
So that is my family. Oh and I'm an only child as well. Granpa Weasley teases dad for not having a houseful like most people expect when they hear our name. But the three of us are very happy with our life.
Well that's that. It's rather late and I think I'd like to knit a bit before bed. I still have so much to do before I leave for Hogwarts. I should be able to post more tomorrow. I'm looking forward t ometting so many of you.
